LUCKNOW/NEW DELHI: After giving her rivals enough chance to vent their ire, BSP chiefMayawathi will finally start her campaign in UP on February 1. Congress chief Sonia Gandhi,who has so far watched her son Rahul Gandhi leading from the front,will join him on February 1.

Mayawati has addressed several rallies in Punjab and Uttarakhand , the two states voting on Monday . But in UP, the BSP campaign has so far been spearheaded by party general secretary Satish Mishra who began addressing rallies after Mayawati's birthday on January 15. She will first address a rally in Sitapur where elections are on February 8. She will cover eight out of 10 districts in the first phase by February 5. After Sitapur, she will visit Barabanki before proceeding to Ambedkarnagar and Faizabad on February 2.

Congress chief Sonia will hold her first meeting in Deoria on February 1. "Sonia Gandhi would address election meetings in Gonda and Deoria on February 1," said a party statement. General secretary Rahul Gandhi will hold rallies in Sitapur, Barabanki and Faizabad on January 31.

This will be her first major party programme in the state which has been the hunting ground of the family till the party was relegated to the margins of power matrix during the Ayodhya campaign. It will be yet another evidence of Sonia being back to normal political engagements after her health issues.

Rahul is slated to continue with another leg of public contact from January 31 while sister Priyanka is likely to be back in the family pocket borough of Rae Bareli next week.

The prompt engagement with UP, barely after the campaign stopped in Punjab , reflects the importance attached to the vast state which will have an impact on national politics and the fledgling leadership of Rahul, directly related to the succession plan in the party.

So, if the next time you try to show your superiority in front of your girl, it might land you in a tight spot. Women prefer mates who're recognized by their peers for their skills, abilities, and achievements - and not those who use coercive tactics to subordinate their rivals, reveals a new study. 

Expert says : Dr. Chirta Bakshi, a relationship counsellor says, "Dominant behaviour is highly opposed by a female partner as she wants to enjoy the bond with equal respect. In any relationship, if one partner tries to have the upper hand in taking all decisions and if they portray their dominant self, it will not do any good to that relationship." 

Macho guys aren't always lucky : A macho guy with an angry young man personality might look good on silver screen, but when it comes to real life, women aren't game to hang around with macho dudes. Women generally aren't too comfortable with the idea of being with a man who has sex on his mind throughout the day. In such relationships, things like understanding and love are secondary and sexual intimacy is all that matters for the male partner."

Expert says : Dr. Ratan Kumar, a clinical psychologist asserts, "There is a very thin line of demarcation between being a gentleman and chauvinist. A girl might love your care and concern, but your over chauvinistic attitude may irritate her at times. Make an attempt to give enough space to her and let the comfort zone be there as per mutual convenience." 

Using slangs won't take you anywhere : Using abusive lingo every time you indulge in a conversation might lend you a cool dude look cool in front of your male peers, but girls don't want to hang around with a abusive man. Being too abusive and stressing on using slangs too often is a 'turn off' for today's women. 

Expert says : Psychiatrist Dr. Anupam Randhawa states, "Men need to realise that a woman would like to be associated with a respectful and well-behaved mate. So using excess of slang language and abusive words during conversations can backfire. According to a recent study by evolutionary psychologists at the University of Michigan and Albright College in Pennsylvania, the tendency to fall asleep first after sex is associated with greater partner desire for bonding and affection.

"The more one's partner was likely to fall asleep after sex, the stronger the desire for bonding," explains Daniel Kruger, research fellow at the University of Michigan, and lead author of the study.

The study, published in December in the Journal of Social, Evolutionary, and Cultural Psychology, examined 456 participants, who completed anonymous online surveys assessing experiences and desires with one's partner after sex. Participants then indicated "who falls asleep after sex?" and "who falls asleep first when going to bed not after sex?"


Participants whose partners nodded off immediately after sex had stronger desires for post-coital cuddling and chatting.

The study also looked at who were more likely - men or women - to fall asleep first. Despite the common stereotype, the researchers did not find it more common for men to fall asleep first after sex. Women, however, were more likely to fall asleep first when sex hadn't taken place.

"Perhaps men stay awake longer as an artifact of mate guarding - making sure the woman doesn't leave them for another partner," says Hughes. "Men may also stay awake longer in an attempt to entice their partner into having sex."
Post-sex etiquette

1. When the climax is reached and ended, do not rush to do anything but stay close to your partner.
2. You can softly mention how much you enjoyed what was done, and how good you now feel. Even if it's necessary, wait a few moments before leaving the bed for the bathroom.
3. Maintain body contact.
4. Enjoy more intimacy by embracing your partner and give (and receive) more mutual caresses.

Fast food is very unhealthy. We all know that. But somehow when it comes to controlling a craving, we fail, again and again. 

Other than a few things here and there like watching programmes on the dangers of fast food regularly and learning to cook, Nutritionist Namrata Desai suggests a few more tips. "Unfortunately there is no healthier substitute for junkies.

But taking a few precautions can always help us," she says, adding, "Eat in moderation and keep a balance. Stuff your diet regime with plenty of vegetables and work out regimes. In this way whenever you feel like having some junk food, you can do it with ease and less guilt. Moderation is the key. Craving comes only when you completely deprive yourself of what you like. 

You can also go for baked, grilled and roasted alternatives. Trust me a grilled piece of chicken tastes much better than deep fried. Getting the perfect combination also plays a very important role. Like go for grilled salads filled sandwich or a whole wheat bun for a burger stuffed with a patty that's sauteed on pan. Choose low fat cheese instead of normal cheese and you can get what you want- high in taste but low in calories."

So next time you look at a burger, don't deprive your taste buds of it. Head back home and make a better burger, which is not just tastier but healthier too. Staying fit is easy, if you know your alternatives well. And you thought chucking the guilt was tough!

Steve Jobs wanted Lytro camera technology for iPhone

A new book titled “Inside Apple” discusses how former chief Steve Jobs wanted to reinvent photography on the iPhone in addition to television and textbook markets. Jobs reportedly met with Ren Neg, CEO of photography company Lytro in June 2011 to discuss this topic, according to9to5mac who received an advanced copy of the title launching on January 25.

As the excerpt reads, Ng caught wind that Jobs wanted to meet with him and dropped everything to rush to Palo Alto. Ng gave Jobs an in-person demonstration of the Lytro camera technology. Jobs then asked Ng to send him an email outlining three things he’d like Lytro to do with Apple.

Ng did indeed send the email but as far as we know, a deal was never agreed upon between the two. Jobs passed away two months later following a storied bout with cancer, just one day after the introduction of the iPhone 4S.

Lytro went on to unveil the world’s first light field camera as a consumer-friendly device in October 2011. The Lytro camera works by capturing the light field, which is described as all of the light traveling in every direction in every point in space, including the color and vector direction. Lytro’s light field sensor is able to capture 11 million light rays in a single shot. This data is lost in a conventional camera which simply adds all of the light rays and records them as a single amount of light.

The real selling point of this camera is the ability to focus anywhere in a photo after you have snapped it. This eliminates the need to focus before taking the picture and ensures that a timeless shot won’t be ruined by incorrect subject focus.

Pricing starts at $399 and you will need a Mac to edit your photos. Lytro’s website still lists “early 2012” as the shipping date, although you can place a pre-order now.

It remains to be seen if we will ever see a Lytro-based camera inside an iPhone but the idea alone is enough to get excited about.

AVG: QR code-based malware attacks to rise in 2012

A new report from AVG suggests you should think twice before using your handset to scan unknown Quick Response (QR) codes. The Global Community Powered Threat Report for the fourth quarter of 2011 found an increase in mobile-related malware, with around a million malicious events during the end of last year. Some 78% of those infections were distributed through rooting tools, while traditional malware represented 14% and hacking tools filled the remaining 8%.

It's unclear how much malware spread by QR codes in late 2011, but AVG reports that it's an ideal distribution method for nefarious software and it expects the practice to grow throughout 2012. Users are unaware of what the code contains until the malware has already gained foothold. The point being, QR codes aren't as safe as you might expect them to be. The security firm likens scanning unknown QR codes to running an unfamiliar executable on your computer.

The company offers one example from September 2011, when malware spread through QR codes on a Russian website and forums. The code directed victims to a download location for an infected version of the Jimm mobile ICQ client. The malware sent SMS messages to premium numbers. AVG notes that even codes you believe are safe present some level of risk because malware writers can compromise a website and replace legitimate codes with malicious ones.

The 26-page report (PDF) contains plenty of other stats, including a breakdown on the threat of stolen digital certificates on Android with three real-world example cases. The Blackhole toolkit represented the largest threat during the reporting period, accounting for nearly 48% of malware activity and over 80% of all toolkits found. The US remains the largest source of spam, now followed by the UK, which jumped from fourth to second place in one quarter, overtaking India and Brazil.

"In Q4 we clearly saw the convergence between computers and mobile phones applies to malware too. As phones become more like computers, so do the risks," AVG said. "Many sophisticated tricks of the trade from computers are now being repurposed for phones. However, as phones are often tied into billing systems the gains can be far greater." "At AVG we believe our role is to give people the tools and peace of mind to enjoy their online experience," said CEO JR Smith.

Xbox 720 to be six times faster than current 360, coming fall 2013

The successor to Microsoft’s wildly popular Xbox 360 gaming console, tentatively known as the Xbox 720, will feature a power plant that is reportedly six times faster than what the current console is capable of. Sources close to the project have told IGN that production on the GPU used in the next-generation console will kick off by the end of 2012 for a fall 2013 release.

Contrary to earlier rumors, it is now believed that the 720 will feature graphics based on AMD’s 6000 series GPU rather than the 7000 series Southern Islands GPU that had been previously pegged for the system. More specifically, the GPU will be similar to the AMD Radeon HD 6670 GPU and feature multi-display out, DirectX11, 3D and 1080p HD out. Graphics cards based on the HD 6670 currently start around $79.99.

As noted, the GPU should be good for real-world performance that is six times better than the Xbox 360 and about 20 percent better than Nintendo’s next-generation console known as the Wii U. Nintendo's Wii U is expected to be released in the second half of 2012.

Developers will likely get their hands on development kits based on the system’s final configuration as early as August in order to give them plenty of time to create games for the console. The 720 is expected to launch in late October or early November in time for the 2013 holiday buying season. No projected price for the system was given.
